We are ready for a brand new journey

Yabancı Dil

You must have heard Turkish people saying that ‘I can understand English but I can’t speak it very well.’ It’s been such a cliche that we can’t stand hearing it anymore. All the possible reasons, including the personal and environmental factors, eventually lead us to reset our minds towards learning and teaching a foreign language. Although changing the perspectives upon already-built understanding and habits is not an easy process, we strongly believe that it’s possible with the help of dedicated teachers.

Each generation has brought its own struggles and new approaches towards teaching English. We, as 21st century language teachers, know that teaching a foreing languge must go beyond the course books. Since being able to use different languages actively plays an important role in one’s life, teaching a language must be assumed as a communication necessity rather than a school subject. With this point of view, we don’t teach English to the students anymore, we are creating safe classroom environments where the learners can have a chance to use the language naturally and have fun at the same time.

Teachers around the country face with various struggles to achive the goal mentioned in the previous paragraph. While some struggles are the common one, some can be quite endemic. The Language Department of the Sharing Summits is aimed at welcoming teachers from different cities and creating such a sharing platform that all teachers find inspiring moments to reset their minds and have the power to turn the ‘cliche’ into ‘English is a part of my life.’

“Those who know nothing of foreign languages know nothing of their own.”

Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

We are ready to set off for a new journey to help those who teach. By gathering under the same roof of “Sharing Summits”, we are going to share our experiences and reach new stimulating ideas. This is going to make us feel really delighted and excited as well. To support our dear colleagues, we will invite inspired and experienced speakers in a class of their own. We are also planning to conduct some useful workshops with aiming to set up connections with other teachers around the country. Thanks to our summits and workshops, we are sure that you will gain a broader understanding of many practices about in-class activities and teaching competences. With the “sharing is caring” mindset we hope to polish our teaching methods and techniques.
